The new event promoted by Med-Or in collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli and Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation is scheduled for May 29, 2024, in Rome

Med-Or Foundation, in collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, will host a conference titled “Digital Geopolitics and the New Challenges of International Politics” on May 29, 2024, in Rome.

The conference is part of the broader project “Digital Geopolitics”, developed by Med-Or Foundation with the Center for International and Strategic Studies (CISS) of Luiss Guido Carli in the framework of the “Geopolitics and Technology. New paradigms of development: challenges, security and democracy” call for proposals, published by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation within the Mission “Fostering international opportunities” of the Planet Goal.

In an era dominated by global interconnection, digital technologies play an increasingly important role in relations between states, companies, and citizens. The conference aims to investigate the complex reality of digital geopolitics and its implications for international politics, together with the challenges and opportunities that come with this epochal transformation. The speakers, high-level experts from different fields, will provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary perspective on this crucial topic.

The conference proceedings will be opened by welcoming remarks from Nicolò Russo Perez, Head of the “Opening International Scenarios” Mission of Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, and Paola Severino, President of the School of Law at Luiss Guido Carli. This will be followed by the presentation of the research papers, illustrated by Jean-Pierre Darnis, a keynote speech by Marco Minniti, President of Med-Or Foundation and, finally, the Round Table, moderated by Raffaele Marchetti, entitled “Italy and the Challenge of Digital Geopolitics,” which will analyze the various challenges posed by the digital revolution for Italian foreign and security policy. The roundtable will feature the participation of Bruno Frattasi, Director General of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN); Giovanni Gagliano, Head of the VI Department of IT, Cyber and Telecommunications of the Defense Staff; Enrico Bagnasco, CEO TI Sparkle; and Lorenzo Mariani, Co-General Manager of Leonardo.

The conclusions of the proceedings will be entrusted to Alfredo Mantovano, Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Delegate Authority for the Security of the Republic.

Digital geopolitics is a highly topical and crucial issue for the future of our country. The conference, thanks to the participation of high-level speakers and the wide range of topics covered, will be an important opportunity to deepen the theme of international politics and the role of digital technologies in the world of today and tomorrow.
