From 25 to 29 May 2026, Rome hosted the first edition of the Lebanese Film Festival in Italy, organized with the support of Med-Or
From 25 to 29 May, the first edition of the Lebanese Film Festival, titled “Plural Lebanon,” was held in Rome, promoted by the Italian-Lebanese Cultural Institute (ICIL) and organised by the association Cinema Senza Frontiere, with the support of the Embassy of Lebanon in Italy and of the Med-Or Italian Foundation.
The Festival was inaugurated with a press conference at the Foreign Press Association in Italy at Palazzo Grazioli, and continued at Cinema Barberini, presenting a selection of contemporary and archival Lebanese films - including feature films, documentaries, and short films - that portray Lebanon’s cultural, social, and identity-related complexity. The programme served as an important showcase for contemporary Lebanese cinema, offering a multifaceted perspective on Lebanese society, its cultural transformations, and the challenges of the present day, while addressing themes such as identity, memory, resilience, and change.
The Festival established itself as a new platform for cultural exchange and international dialogue, highlighting cinema as a tool for cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples, while reflecting Med-Or’s broader commitment to supporting academic, cultural, and artistic initiatives.
