Somalia is, however, grappling with several challenges that risk further heighten regional tensions, with implications for international stability. The initiative carried out by Med-Or is part of a broader commitment to strengthen relations with Africa, by consolidating stability, prosperity and cultural ties between Italy, Europe and the African continent.

Somalia has been a key recipient country of Med-Or support, including in scholarship for Somalis students currently undertaking university courses in Italy.
