On 21 July, the inauguration ceremony of the contemporary art exhibition supported by Med-Or, “Echoes of Existence. Landscapes of Memory and Belonging”, was held at the National Museum of Beirut.
On 21 July, at the Nuhad Es-Said for Culture Pavilion of the National Museum of Beirut, the inauguration ceremony of the contemporary art exhibition “Echoes of Existence. Landscapes of Memory and Belonging” took place, bringing together the works of Italian-Lebanese artist Gilbert El Halaby and Enzo Cucchi, under the curatorship of Muriel Asmar.
Supported by the Med-Or Italian Foundation and presented under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, the exhibition was realised in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Beirut, the Carabinieri Command for Forestry, Environmental and Agri-Food Units, and the Center for Oriental Strategic Studies (COSMO).
At the centre of the exhibition is the pine tree, a symbol of profound historical, cultural and identity-related significance for the entire Mediterranean region. Through this element, the exhibition explores the themes of memory, belonging and the relationship with the territory, while also presenting itself as a significant instrument of cultural diplomacy. The initiative also highlights the deep historical and cultural ties between Italy and Lebanon.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Italy to Beirut, Fabrizio Marcelli; the Ambassador of Lebanon to Rome, Carla Jazzar; and, representing the Med-Or Italian Foundation, the Director of International Relations, Massimo Khairallah.
For the Med-Or Italian Foundation, supporting the exhibition is part of its broader commitment to promoting culture and art as instruments of dialogue and international cooperation. The initiative also contributes to strengthening the Foundation’s relationship with Lebanon, consolidating a path that sees Med-Or engaged in the promotion of numerous cultural initiatives, as well as in supporting education and training opportunities for the Lebanese population.
