Med-Or Supports the Mediterranea Exhibition, Now in Matera

Following numerous international stops, the exhibition supported by the Foundation has arrived in Matera, Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026.

On 28 October, the exhibition Mediterranea. A Journey Across the Great Sea Through History, Science and Art was inaugurated at the Monumental Museum of the Former San Rocco Hospital in Matera. Among those attending the opening ceremony were the Mayor of Matera, Antonio Nicoletti, and the Director General of Med-Or Italian Foundation, Letizia Colucci. Curated by Viviana Panaccia, the exhibition will run from 29 October 2026 to 31 January 2027, as part of the programme of Matera Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026.

Med-Or Italian Foundation has supported the exhibition's international journey since its first stop in Lebanon in June 2023. Since then, Mediterranea has travelled across several countries in the region, with stops in Algiers, Zagreb, Rijeka, Valencia, Tirana and Alexandria, before reaching the MAXXI Museum in Rome in 2025 and Athens in 2026. The exhibition offers a journey through the history, cultures and contemporary challenges of the Mediterranean, bringing together satellite imagery, photographs, historical artefacts, works of art and immersive installations that connect science, art and technology.

Through its continued support for this initiative, Med-Or reaffirms its commitment to promoting dialogue and cooperation among Mediterranean countries, highlighting their shared historical and cultural heritage and fostering a deeper understanding of the transformations shaping the region.
