In Rome, the meeting with the President of Kenya, William Ruto, convened by the Med-Or Italian Foundation at Luiss University.

On 21 April, the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, participated in an event organized by the Med-Or Italian Foundation at the Luiss University campus in Rome. The meeting reaffirmed Med-Or’s commitment to fostering structured dialogue and innovative projects with African countries, with particular emphasis on Kenya’s role as a privileged partner.

On Tuesday, 21 April 2026, the Med-Or Italian Foundation hosted the event “Kenya: A Great Country Looking to the Future” at the LUISS Guido Carli University campus in Rome. The President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, attended it as guest of honor. The event opened with institutional remarks by Gaetano Quagliariello, Dean of the LUISS School of Government, followed by an address by Marco Minniti, Chairman of Med-Or, ahead of President Ruto’s speech.

The event further underscored Med-Or’s commitment to promoting structured dialogue and advancing innovative projects with African countries, highlighting in particular Kenya’s role as a strategic actor and a privileged partner in numerous cooperation initiatives. Kenya has in fact been selected by Med-Or as the location of its first office abroad, inaugurated in February 2026. The Nairobi office serves as a hub for the Foundation’s initiatives across the African continent. The objective is to consolidate a stable network of relationships and projects between Italy and Africa, while fostering cooperation in institutional, academic, and training fields.

Med-Or Italian Foundation in Kenya

In February, Med-Or officially inaugurated its Africa office in Nairobi. From its base in Kenya, the Foundation is implementing several strategic initiatives across the continent. Among those carried out in Kenya are:

• a cyber security training program for government officials;

• a Blue Economy project aimed at enhancing the fisheries, shipbuilding, and maritime sectors in Kilifi County, led by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia in partnership with the Office of the Special Envoy for Climate Change, the State Departments for Mining, the Blue Economy and Fisheries, and Kilifi County;

• a partnership on critical minerals involving the University of Nairobi and the Universities of Siena, Turin, and Milan, aimed at strengthening scientific expertise and supporting mineral exploration in Kenya.
