In Memory of Sir Alex Younger

In recent days, Sir Alex Younger, former Chief of the United Kingdom’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and a member of the Med-Or International Board, has passed away.

A distinguished figure in the field of international security, Sir Alex devoted much of his professional life to serving the United Kingdom. Following an initial period as an officer in the British Army, he joined MI6 in 1991 and went on to hold a number of operational and leadership positions in some of the most challenging international environments. From 2014 to 2020, he served as Chief of the United Kingdom’s foreign intelligence service, leading the organisation through a period marked by profound geopolitical and technological change.

Throughout his career, he made a significant contribution to the defence and security of his country and to strengthening cooperation with international partners and allies. He was widely respected for his expertise, sound judgement and strategic vision. Following the conclusion of his public service, he remained actively engaged in discussions on global security and international affairs, continuing to share his insight and experience.

The Med-Or Italian Foundation was honoured to count Sir Alex Younger among the members of its International Board. During this time of profound sorrow, the Foundation extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his family.

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the Faith.”
