Med-Or Foundation and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria signed a Letter of Intent on March 14, 2024, to strengthen the relations between Algeria and Italy, and jointly explore potential collaboration initiatives in the fields of education, research, innovation, professional training and culture. The agreement was signed at the Med-Or headquarters by Marco Minniti, Chairman of Med-Or Foundation, and Abdelkrim Touahria, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Italy.

The primary objective of the Letter of Intent is to formalize the shared interest between Med-Or Foundation and Algeria in identifying and pursuing collaborative projects across multiple domains.

One of the focal points of collaboration is the provision of scholarships for Algerian students to pursue post-graduate degree courses at Italian universities in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Autonomous Intelligent Systems, Quantum Technologies, and Cognitive Systems (Radar, Radio), among others. Furthermore, the collaboration aims to establish partnerships between Algerian higher education institutions and Italian universities to facilitate academic exchanges and enhance mutual learning.

Moreover, Med-Or Foundation, in collaboration with Leonardo Group’s companies, will support the training of Algerian young professionals through internship programs in the fields of Space Technologies, Air and Maritime Surveillance, Climate Change Mitigation, Industry 4.0, Air Traffic Management infrastructures and Innovative Green Aerostructures, among others. These internship programs aim to provide hands-on experience and enhance the skill sets of Algerian professionals in line with the country’s development objectives.

The collaboration extends to other areas, such as fostering regular exchanges and research projects between Med-Or Foundation and Algerian think tanks and research centers, and promoting cultural diplomacy and cross-cultural dialogue between the two nations, with a particular focus on the promotion of Arabic language in Italy and Italian language in Algeria.

The Letter of Intent marks the beginning of a promising partnership between Med-Or Foundation and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, characterized by collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing socio-economic development and fostering bilateral ties.
