The Med-Or LATAM Observatory is Launched: A Tool for Understanding Latin America
The Med-Or Observatory on Latin America (LATAM) aims to provide structured and continuous monitoring of the political, institutional, and social dynamics of the region, which are becoming increasingly central to global economic and geopolitical balances.
The LATAM Observatory delivers ongoing analysis of political, institutional, and social developments in Latin America, with the objective of supporting an informed understanding of the transformations shaping the region.
At the core of the Observatory lies the MEDOR Governance Index (IMG), an analytical tool designed to measure the capacity of Latin American political systems to respond to social demands, maintain institutional stability, and preserve democratic legitimacy. The Index is based on seven key indicators—including legitimacy, conflict, decision-making effectiveness, political cohesion, and public trust—and combines quantitative analysis with expert assessment through a regional panel and the Delphi method.
Conceived as a dynamic and comparable instrument, the IMG makes it possible to identify emerging risks, areas of vulnerability, and signals of change, transforming political uncertainty into actionable information for strategic planning.
The LATAM Observatory is primarily addressed to Italian companies operating in or interested in the region, offering concrete support in assessing governance conditions, anticipating critical scenarios, and strengthening investment decisions, risk management, and sustainability strategies.
