The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation on critical infrastructure, digital connectivity and strategic dialogue, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthening ties between Italy and Djibouti at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia.
Reflecting the growing strategic importance of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the seminar explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation on maritime infrastructure, subsea connectivity and energy resilience, while highlighting Djibouti’s role as a gateway linking Europe, Africa and Asia.
On 21 July, the inauguration ceremony of the contemporary art exhibition supported by Med-Or, “Echoes of Existence. Landscapes of Memory and Belonging”, was held at the National Museum of Beirut.

The second phase of the Telemedicine Project, developed by Med-Or in collaboration with IRCCS San Raffaele and the University of Jordan, officially began in Amman on 13 July 2026.
The European Commission's decision to entrust Italy with the coordination of the new Mediterranean Regional Cable Hub represents far more than the allocation of another EU-funded project. It marks one of the first concrete steps towards a European policy for the undersea domain, in which the protection of critical infrastructure becomes a permanent function of the Union's security architecture.
This initiative, developed by Med-Or Italian Foundation in collaboration with the Luiss School of Government under the “Geopolitics and Technology” call for proposals promoted by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione CSF, is part of a research project dedicated to the geopolitical and technological challenges facing the Mediterranean region.
